Thermal Transmitter Check / Oil Pressure Switch / Speedometer Cable Removal and Installation / Speed Sensor Signal Check

EL-91spec table
Check the resistance between the terminals of the thermal transmitter and body ground with the transmitter in situation.
For a more accurate test, remove thermal transmitter and immerse in a vessel of water.
Heat water, and test transmitter resistance at suitable temperatures to determine if transmitter resistance is changing correctly in accordance with temperature variation.

Thermal transmitter resistance vs temperature

Oil Pressure Switch

Check the continuity between the terminals of oil pressure switch and body ground.

Oil pressure switch continuity

Engine start
Oil pressure kPa (bar, kg/cm², psi)More than 4.9 - 24.5 (0.049 - 0.245, 0.7 - 3.6)
Resistance value
Engine stop
Oil pressure kPa (bar, kg/cm², psi)Less than 4.9 - 24.5 (0.049 - 0.245, 0.05 - 0.25, 0.7 - 3.6)
Resistance value≈ 0
Apply sealant to screw threads when refitting.
Maximum installationOil pressure switch

Speedometer Cable Removal and Installation

After disconnecting speedometer cable end from transaxle, push speedometer cable so that combination meter is pushed into passenger compartment. Disconnect speedometer cable end from combination meter as shown in the figure at left.

Speed Sensor Signal Check

  1. 0
A speed sensor is built into the speedometer.
Speed sensor connector at the speedometer with an ohmmeter connected to check continuity of the speed sensor circuit while the speedometer is turned slowly.
    UEL077
  2. 1
Turn speedometer slowly using a small screwdriver.
  3. 2
Check continuity of speed sensor circuit. Continuity exists two times for each turn ... O.K.
