HEADLAMP — Bulb Replacement / Main-Dipped Beam / Clearance Lamp / Front Turn Signal Lamp

EL-56prose procedure

H4 bulb has three flat blades (low filament + high filament + common ground). Yellow front turn signal indicates UK / European spec; some markets use clear bulb with amber lens.

Bulb Replacement

Main/Dipped Beam (H4)

  1. 1
    Disconnect the battery cable.
  2. 2
    Disconnect the harness connector from the rear side of the bulb.
    H4 halogen bulb — 3-terminal base shown side-on.

    Pull off the rubber cap.
    Rear of headlamp — Spring Retainer, Bulb (main/dipped), Rubber Boot, Clearance bulb removal arrow, Turn Signal bulb removal arrow.

    Release bulb retaining spring by squeezing spring sides and pulling backwards.
  5. 5
    Remove headlamp bulb carefully. Do not shake or rotate the bulb when removing it.

    Install in the reverse order to removal.

Clearance Lamp

    Disconnect the battery cable.
  2. 2
    Disconnect the H4 Bulb Harness Connector.
  3. 3
    Twist clearance bulbholder assembly (anti-clockwise) and withdraw from headlamp unit.
    Three-step storyboard: top — Rubber cap shown with 'Push to remove' arrow; middle — clearance bulbholder twist removal; bottom — clearance bulb itself with 'PUSH to remove' label.

    Remove bulb from holder.
  5. 5
    Install in the reverse order to removal.

Front Turn Signal Lamp

  1. 1
    Disconnect the battery cable.
  2. 2
    Disconnect the turn signal/clearance lamp harness connector from rear of headlamp.
  3. 3
    Twist bulb holder anti-clockwise using moulded wings for leverage.
  4. 4
    Remove bulb from bulbholder.
  5. 5
    Install in the reverse order to removal.
