HEADLAMP — Bulb Replacement / Main-Dipped Beam / Clearance Lamp / Front Turn Signal Lamp
EL-56prose procedureH4 bulb has three flat blades (low filament + high filament + common ground). Yellow front turn signal indicates UK / European spec; some markets use clear bulb with amber lens.
Bulb Replacement
NOTE
The headlamp is a semi-sealed beam type which uses a replaceable halogen bulb for the main and dipped beam.
The headlamp unit also contains the clearance lamp and front turn signal indicator bulbs.
Main Beam/Dipped Beam
Rating12 V 60/55 W (H4)
Clearance Lamp
Rating12 V 5 W
Front turn signal lamp
Rating12 V 21 W (yellow)
NOTE
All headlamp bulbs can be replaced from the engine compartment side without removing the headlamp body from the vehicle.
Main/Dipped Beam (H4)
CAUTION
Grasp only the base when handling the bulb. Never touch the glass envelope.
- 1Disconnect the battery cable.
- 2Disconnect the harness connector from the rear side of the bulb.
UEL052 - 3Pull off the rubber cap.
UEL051 - 4Release bulb retaining spring by squeezing spring sides and pulling backwards.
- 5Remove headlamp bulb carefully. Do not shake or rotate the bulb when removing it.
- 6Install in the reverse order to removal.
Clearance Lamp
- 1Disconnect the battery cable.
- 2Disconnect the H4 Bulb Harness Connector.
- 3Twist clearance bulbholder assembly (anti-clockwise) and withdraw from headlamp unit.
SEL225P - 4Remove bulb from holder.
- 5Install in the reverse order to removal.
Front Turn Signal Lamp
- 1Disconnect the battery cable.
- 2Disconnect the turn signal/clearance lamp harness connector from rear of headlamp.
- 3Twist bulb holder anti-clockwise using moulded wings for leverage.
- 4Remove bulb from bulbholder.
- 5Install in the reverse order to removal.
