WIPERS AND WASHERS — Rear Wiper Arm — Removal / Installation

Rear wiper arm nut torque (15-18 N·m) is much higher than the front (3.8-5.1 N·m) because the rear arm is single-spline-engaged. ±15 mm tolerance keeps the blade clear of the screen-finisher edge.

Rear Wiper Arm — Removal

  1. 1
    Ensure the wiper arm is in the park position by switching wiper on and off.
  2. 2
    Remove battery negative cable from battery.
  3. 3
    Lift wiper arm nut cover and remove wiper arm nut.

    Prise wiper arm off drive pivot splines.
  5. 5
    Clean drive pivot splines with a stiff brush to reduce possibility of wiper arm looseness.
    Spline cleanup — stiff brush on rear wiper drive pivot.

Rear Wiper Arm — Installation

    Prior to installation, ensure the wiper arm pivot is in the park position by switching wiper on and off.
  2. 2
    Remove battery negative cable from battery.
  3. 3
    Ensure drive pivot splines are clean.
  4. 4
    Lift the blade up and set it down onto glass to set the blade center to position before tightening the wiper arm nut.

    Eject washer fluid and turn on wiper switch to operate wiper motor.
