WIPERS AND WASHERS — Front Wiper Motor and Linkage — Removal / Wiper Motor and Linkage Assembly

EL-105prose procedure

Ball joints between motor arm and linkage are pre-greased — top up the grease on refit. Seal distortion is the most common refit failure (lets water past the cowl seal).

Front Wiper Motor and Linkage — Removal

    Switch wipers on and off to "park" wiper blades.

    Remove battery negative cable from battery.
  3. 3
    Remove wiper arms as described in previous procedure.
  4. 4
    Remove cowl top cover from bonnet (see exploded view of wiper system) by removing fixing screws and pulling cowl upwards off of fixing lugs.
    REMOVE Cowl top cover — Fixing Screws + Sealing Rubber. Cowl lifts off after screw removal.

    Disconnect Ball and Socket at Linkage/Motor Interface.
    1. Take care to apply separation force as close to socket on linkage as possible.
    Ball joint — Twist lever + linkage callouts. Disconnect ball-and-socket at motor interface.

    Disconnect harness connector from wiper motor.
  7. 7
    Remove bolts (4) holding wiper motor assembly and remove wiper motor.
    Wiper motor with fixing bolts — torque 3.8-5.1 N·m (0.39-0.52 kg-m).

    Remove linkage fixing bolts (6) and pull linkage out of linkage channel.
    Wiper linkage Removal — pull from linkage channel after 6 bolts removed.

Wiper Motor and Linkage Assembly

  1. 1
    Check that there is sufficient grease on ball and socket joint; apply grease if required.
    Ball-joint detail — Link, Ball retainer, Motor arm, Ball pin, Cowl top, Seal to be free from distortion, Ball joint Assy.

    Fit motor and linkage fixing bolts to torque figures specified.
    1. 3.8-5.1 N·m (0.39-0.52 kg-m)
