WIPERS AND WASHERS — Front Wiper Motor and Linkage — Removal / Wiper Motor and Linkage Assembly
EL-105prose procedureBall joints between motor arm and linkage are pre-greased — top up the grease on refit. Seal distortion is the most common refit failure (lets water past the cowl seal).
Front Wiper Motor and Linkage — Removal
- 1Switch wipers on and off to "park" wiper blades.
- 2Remove battery negative cable from battery.
- 3Remove wiper arms as described in previous procedure.
- 4Remove cowl top cover from bonnet (see exploded view of wiper system) by removing fixing screws and pulling cowl upwards off of fixing lugs.
UEL081 - 5Disconnect Ball and Socket at Linkage/Motor Interface.
- Take care to apply separation force as close to socket on linkage as possible.
UEL082 - 6Disconnect harness connector from wiper motor.
- 7Remove bolts (4) holding wiper motor assembly and remove wiper motor.
UEL085 - 8Remove linkage fixing bolts (6) and pull linkage out of linkage channel.

NOTE
Assembly is the reverse procedure to removal.
- 1Check that there is sufficient grease on ball and socket joint; apply grease if required.
UEL084 - 2Fit motor and linkage fixing bolts to torque figures specified.
- 3.8-5.1 N·m (0.39-0.52 kg-m)
