METER AND GAUGES — Inspection — Fuel Gauge / Water Temperature Gauge
EL-89flowchart3.4W test bulb provides a defined resistance so the gauge sweeps to full scale — proves both gauge movement and the f.p.c.b. trace from input terminal to gauge coil work.

① CHECK POWER SOURCE — Turn ignition switch "ON". Check voltage between terminal Ⓐ and ground. Battery voltage should exist.
N.G.
N.G. → Check the following items: 1) Harness continuity between battery terminal and combination meter. 2) Ignition relay 1. 3) Fusible link (65A) and fuse (10A). 4) Ignition switch operation and connections.

O.K.
3
② CHECK GAUGE OPERATION — Turn ignition switch "ON". Connect terminal Ⓑ and Ⓒ to ground with wire through 3.4W test bulb. (Test points are raised soldered terminals on f.p.c.b.) Check operation of gauge. Gauge should move smoothly to full scale.
N.G.
N.G. → Repair or replace gauge.
O.K.
4
③ Check harness continuity between component and combination meter Ⓓ and Ⓔ.
