BATTERY — Battery Test and Charging Chart (Chart I) (Base K11)
EL-18flowchartBattery test/charging decision flowchart (Chart I, base K11). SG thresholds: <1.100 slow charge, 1.100-1.220 standard/quick, >1.220 capacity test. Quick-charge temp limit 60°C. Capacity test details on Chart II.

Battery test and charging decision flow
1
VISUAL INSPECTION: Check battery case for cracks/bends; terminals for damage; electrolyte level difference within 10 mm (0.39 in) = OK
N.G.
Replace battery (N.G. visual)
O.K.
2
CHECKING SPECIFIC GRAVITY (refer to Specific Gravity Check)
1.100-1.220
1.100-1.220 → STANDARD CHARGE (B) or QUICK CHARGE (C) → CAPACITY TEST → recheck SG / RECHARGE if needed
Above 1.220
Above 1.220 → CAPACITY TEST (Chart II) directly
Below 1.100
3
Below 1.100 → SLOW CHARGE (A) → CAPACITY TEST (Chart II)
N.G.
Replace battery (capacity test N.G.)
OK
Ready for use (capacity test OK)
NOTE
Battery diagnosis flow (Chart I). SG-based decision:
• Below 1.100 (deeply discharged) → SLOW CHARGE
• 1.100-1.220 (partial) → STANDARD CHARGE (recommended if storage) or QUICK CHARGE
• Above 1.220 (charged) → CAPACITY TEST directly
All paths end in CAPACITY TEST (Chart II) → ready-for-use or replace.
'STANDARD CHARGE' is recommended if the vehicle is in storage after charging.
WARNING
Quick-charge temperature limit: if battery temperature rises above 60°C (140°F), STOP charging. Always charge when battery temperature is below 60°C. Quick charge time required: 45 min.
