HEADLAMP — Bulb Replacement (Base K11)

EL-56prose procedure

Base K11 HEADLAMP bulb replacement. Bulbs: main/dipped H4 12V 60/55W, clearance 12V 5W, front turn signal 12V 21W amber. All replaced from engine bay. H4 handle-by-base-only caution. Clearance/turn holders twist anti-clockwise. Figs UEL051/052, SEL225P.

Bulb Replacement

The headlamp is a semi-sealed beam type which uses a replaceable halogen bulb for the main and dipped beam. The headlamp unit also contains the clearance lamp and front turn signal indicator bulbs.
All headlamp bulbs can be replaced from the engine compartment side without removing the headlamp body from the vehicle.

Main/Dipped Beam (H4)

Main/dipped beam (H4) bulb replacement

    Disconnect the battery cable.
  2. 2
    Disconnect the harness connector from the rear side of the bulb.
  3. 3
    Pull off the rubber cap.
  4. 4
    Release bulb retaining spring by squeezing spring sides and pulling backwards.
  5. 5
    Remove headlamp bulb carefully. Do not shake or rotate the bulb when removing it.
  6. 6
    Install in the reverse order to removal.

Clearance Lamp

Clearance lamp bulb replacement

    Disconnect the battery cable.
  2. 2
    Disconnect the H4 Bulb Harness Connector.
  3. 3
    Pull off the rubber cap.
  4. 4
    Twist clearance bulbholder assembly (anti-clockwise) and withdraw from headlamp unit.
  5. 5
    Remove bulb from holder.
  6. 6
    Install in the reverse order to removal.

Front Turn Signal Lamp

Front turn signal lamp bulb replacement

  1. 1
    Disconnect the battery cable.
  2. 2
    Disconnect the turn signal/clearance lamp harness connector from rear of headlamp.
  3. 3
    Twist bulb holder anti-clockwise using moulded wings for leverage.
  4. 4
    Remove bulb from bulbholder.
  5. 5
    Install in the reverse order to removal.
