INTERIOR LAMPS — Interior and Luggage Room Lamps / Wiring Diagram
EL-83wiring diagramDoors switch the GROUND side, not the + side — diagnosing a stuck-on interior lamp means looking for a door switch shorted-to-ground or a wire grounded somewhere along R/W. The 10A fuse stays live regardless of ignition position so the door-open dome lamp works with the key out.
NOTE
(Page rendered with text running bottom-to-top — original landscape layout.) Classic door-switch interior-lamp circuit: the door switches don't supply current; they switch the ground side. The interior lamp gets a permanent live (R/B) and the door switches provide the ground path when a door is open. In ON position the lamp gets a constant ground via the lamp switch itself; in DOOR position the ground comes from door switches; in OFF position the lamp is open-circuited. Luggage-room lamp works the same way via its boot-lid switch.
