METER AND GAUGES - Thermal Transmitter, Oil Pressure Switch, Speedometer Cable & Speed Sensor Checks
EL-91prose procedureThermal Transmitter Check
NOTE
Check the resistance between the terminals of the thermal transmitter and body ground with the transmitter in situation.
NOTE
For a more accurate test, remove thermal transmitter and immerse in a vessel of water.
Heat water, and test transmitter resistance at suitable temperatures to determine if transmitter resistance is changing correctly in accordance with temperature variation.

Oil Pressure Switch
NOTE
Check the continuity between the terminals of oil pressure switch and body ground.

Speedometer Cable Removal and Installation
NOTE
After disconnecting speedometer cable end from transaxle, push speedometer cable so that combination meter is pushed into passenger compartment. Disconnect speedometer cable end from combination meter as shown in the figure at left.
Speed Sensor Signal Check
NOTE
A speed sensor is built into the speedometer.
- 1Turn speedometer slowly using a small screwdriver.
- 2Check continuity of speed sensor circuit.
NOTE
Continuity exists two times for each turn ... O.K.
