EL-20flowchartBattery Test and Charging Chart (Cont'd) - A: SLOW CHARGE
A: Slow charge
1
Determine initial charging current from specific gravity referring to Fig. 2.
2
Charge battery. Check charging voltage 30 minutes after starting the battery charge.
Below 12 volts or above 15 volts
3
12 to 15 volts
O.K.
4
Continue to charge for 12 hours.
5
CHECKING SPECIFIC GRAVITY - Refer to 'Specific Gravity Check'.
6
Conduct additional charge as per Fig 3, if necessary.
Go to 'CAPACITY TEST'.

CAUTION
a. Set charging current to value specified. If charger is not capable of producing specified current value, set its charging current as close to that value as possible.
b. Keep battery away from open flame while it is being charged.
c. When connecting charger, connect leads first, then turn on charger. Do not turn on charger first, as this may cause a spark.
d. If battery temperature rises above 60°C (140°F), stop charging. Never charge battery when its temperature is above 60°C (140°F).
