Diagnostic Procedure
Step 1 — CHECK POWER SUPPLY
- 1Turn ignition switch "OFF".
- 2Disconnect engine coolant temperature sensor harness connector. (See NEF151A)
- 3Turn ignition switch "ON".
- 4Check voltage between terminal 2 and ground with CONSULT-II or tester. (See SEF997W)
- 5Voltage: Approximately 5 V.
- 6OK or NG: - OK → GO TO 2. - NG → Repair hairness or connectors.
Step 2 — CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT
- 1Turn ignition switch "OFF".
- 2Check harness continuity between ECTS terminal 1 and ECH harness connector 71 or body ground. Refer to wiring diagram. Continuity should exist.
- 3Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
- 4OK or NG: - OK → GO TO 4. - NG → GO TO 3.
Step 3 — DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
- 1Check the following. - Harness for open or short between ECM and engine coolant temperature sensor.
