Fuel Pressure Regulator Check

Fuel Pressure Regulator Check

    Stop engine and disconnect fuel pressure regulator vacuum hose from intake manifold.
  2. 2
    Plug intake manifold with a rubber cap.
  3. 3
    Connect variable vacuum source to fuel pressure regulator.
    Vacuum source applied to fuel pressure regulator, vacuum and fuel pressure gauges connected.

    Start engine and read indication of fuel pressure gauge as vacuum is changed.

Injector

REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

Injector removal and installation

    Release fuel pressure to zero.
  2. 2
    Remove fuel tube assemblies in numerical sequence as shown in the Figure at left.
    Fuel tube assemblies numbered 1 and 2 for removal sequence.

    Expand and remove clips securing fuel injectors.
  4. 4
    Extract fuel injectors straight from fuel tubes. - Be careful not to damage injector nozzles during removal. - Do not bump or drop fuel injectors.

    Install fuel injectors. Carefully install O-rings, including the one used with the pressure regulator. - Use bare hands to install O-rings. Do not wear gloves. - Apply smear of engine oil to O-rings before installation. - Make sure that O-rings and other parts are clean and free from foreign particles. - Be careful not to damage O-rings with service tools or finger nails. Do not expand or twist O-rings. If stretched, do not insert them into fuel tubes immediately after stretching. - Always insert O-rings straight into fuel tubes. Do not tilt or rotate them during installation.
    Use bare hands to install O-rings. Do not wear gloves.
    Apply smear of engine oil to O-rings before installation.
    Make sure that O-rings and other parts are clean and free from foreign particles.
    Be careful not to damage O-rings with service tools or finger nails.
    Always insert O-rings straight into fuel tubes.

    Position clips in grooves on fuel injectors. - Make sure that protrusions of fuel injectors are aligned with cutouts of clips after installation.
