Check ignition system. • Check for operation. Refer to "Ignition Signal". (See page EF&EC-140)

5. Check spark gaps. • Turn ignition switch to "OFF". • Remove spark plugs. • Install new or good spark plugs. • While moving rear end of each spark plug close to grounding point, crank engine. • Check for sparks.

6. Check spark plugs. • Remove spark plugs from engine and check for contaminants, damage and proper spark gaps.

7. Check exhaust gas sensor. With CONSULT: • Run engine at approximately 2,000 rpm after warm-up. • Conduct "MIXTURE RATIO" test with "FUNCTION TEST" showing on display or proceed as follows: • Select "EXH GAS SEN" with "DATA MONITOR" showing on display. • Run engine at 2,000 rpm under no load after warm-up. Check to ensure display alternately shows "LEAN" and "RICH" at least 5 times within 10 seconds. RICH→LEAN→RICH→LEAN→RICH... (← 1 time → ← 2 times →). Without CONSULT: • Set body-side diagnostic connector (inside fuse box) in "Exhaust gas sensor monitor" mode. (Refer to "Self-Diagnosis"). • Run engine at 2,000 rpm under no load after warm-up. • Check to ensure engine C/U L.E.D. warning light flashes at least 5 times within 10 seconds.
