Diagnostic Procedure 4 — Hard to start when the Engine is Cold (Cont'd)
1
From point B (continued from previous page)
2
Check injectors. Stop engine. Remove distributor. (Do not remove crank angle sensor harness connector.) Remove power transistor connector. Turn ignition switch to "ON". Check to ensure each injector emits hissing sound when crankshaft is hand-rotated. Display shows an erratic indication during self-diagnosis and does not show abnormalities.
N.G.
Check injectors and circuits. (See page EF&EC-153).
O.K.
3
Check spark gaps. Turn ignition switch "OFF". Remove spark plugs. Install new or good spark plugs. While moving rear end of each spark plug close to grounding point, crank engine. Check for sparks.
N.G.
Check ignition coil, power transistor and related circuits. Refer to "Ignition Signal". (See page EF&EC-140).
O.K.
4
Check spark plugs. Remove spark plugs from engine and check for contaminants, damage and proper spark gaps.
N.G.
Repair or replace.
O.K.
5
Check E.C.U. harness connector. Check E.C.U pin terminals and harness connector for poor contact or damage.
N.G.
same as step 4
O.K.
6
Check E.C.U. power supply and ground circuit. (Refer to "Power Supply and Ground Circuit" EF & EC 130-133.)
N.G.
same as step 4
O.K.
7
Replace E.C.U.
