FUNCTION TEST MODE

TEST ITEM	DESCRIPTION
SELF-DIAG RESULTS	Displays the results of self-diagnostic tests.
IDLE POSITION	Idle position is detected via the throttle sensor when the throttle is opened and closed fully.
THROTTLE SENSOR	The throttle sensor circuit is tested when the throttle is opened and closed fully.
NEUTRAL SWITCH*	Neutral switch circuit is tested when shift lever is manipulated.
FUEL PUMP	Fuel pump circuit is tested by checking the pulsation in fuel pressure when fuel tube is pinched.
RADIATOR FAN	Radiator fan circuit is tested when radiator fan is rotated.
START SIGNAL CIRCUIT	Start signal circuit is tested when engine is started by operating the starter. Battery voltage and water temperature before cranking, and average battery voltage, air flow meter output voltage and cranking speed during cranking are displayed.
PW/ST SIGNAL	Power steering circuit is tested when steering wheel is rotated fully and then set to a straight line running position.
VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR	Vehicle speed sensor circuit is tested when vehicle is running at a speed of 6 mph (10 km/h) or higher.
IGNITION TIMING ADJ	Ignition timing adjustment is checked by reading ignition timing with a timing light and checking whether it agrees with specifications.
MIXTURE RATIO TEST	Air-fuel ratio feedback circuit (injection system, ignition system, vacuum system etc.) is tested by examining the exhaust gas sensor output at 2,000 rpm under no-load conditions.
POWER BALANCE	Injector operation of each cylinder is stopped one after another, and resultant change in engine rotation is examined to evaluate combustion of each cylinder.
AAC VALVE SYSTEM	AAC valve system is tested by detecting change in engine rpm when AAC valve opening is changed to 0%, 20% and 80%.

Turn ignition switch "ON" and run engine at idle speed

Select "FUNCTION TEST" from the "SELECT DIAG MODE" menu.

Select "SEQUENCE TEST" to perform tests on all systems detailed above consecutively. — OR — Select "SINGLE TEST" to perform a test on an individual system chosen from the above.

Follow instructions on CONSULT screen; press "START" to execute a test, or "NEXT" to move on to the next test in the sequence.

At end of testing press "EXIT" to proceed to Print Screen menu. Press "PRINT" to produce a hard copy of the test results.
