IDLE SPEED/IGNITION TIMING/IDLE MIXTURE RATIO INSPECTION - Preparation, Overall Inspection Sequence

- 1Make sure that the following parts are in good order. • Battery • Ignition system • Engine oil and coolant levels • Fuses • E.C.U. harness connector • Vacuum hoses • Air intake system (including P.C.V., hoses, oil filler cap and oil level gauge, etc.) • Fuel pressure • Engine compression • Throttle valve
- 2On air conditioner equipped models, checks should be carried out while the air conditioner is "OFF".
- 3On N.CVT equipped models, when checking idle rpm, ignition timing and mixture ratio, checks should be carried out while shift lever is in "N" position.
- 4When measuring "CO" percentage, insert probe more than 40 cm (15.7 in) into tail pipe.
- 5Turn off headlamps, heater blower, rear defogger.
- 6Keep front wheels pointed straight ahead.
- 7Make the check after the radiator fan has stopped.
- 8Ensure the latest version of the CONSULT software has been loaded into the CONSULT unit and is suitable for use on the vehicle being tested. Ensure the CONSULT connection lead is properly connected and is in good order.
