Diagnostic Procedure 15 — Engine stalls when Accelerating or when Driving at Constant Speed

CONDUCT POWER BALANCE TEST. With CONSULT: Start engine. Conduct "POWER BALANCE" test with "ACTIVE TEST" showing on display. Test must be finished as quickly as possible. Do not conduct test while vehicle is being driven. Check to ensure idle speed momentarily decreases while testing each cylinder. Without CONSULT: Start engine. Check to ensure idle speed momentarily decreases when each injector connector is removed from cylinder.

CHECK INJECTORS. Stop engine. Remove distributor. (Do not remove crank angle sensor harness connector.) Remove power transistor connector. Turn ignition switch to "ON". Check to ensure each injector emits hissing sound when crankshaft is hand-rotated. Display shows an erratic indication during self-diagnosis and does not show abnormalities.
