Step 3 — CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT
- 1Turn ignition switch "OFF".
- 2Check harness continuity between throttle position sensor harness connector terminal 2 and ECM terminal 71 or ground. Refer to wiring diagram. Continuity should exist.
- 3Also check harness for short to power.
- 4OK or NG: - OK → GO TO 5. - NG → GO TO 4.
Step 4 — DETECT MALFUNCTIONING PART
- 1Check the harness for open or short between ECM and throttle position sensor.
- 2→ Repair open circuit or short to power in harness or connectors.
Step 5 — CHECK INPUT SIGNAL CIRCUIT
- 1Disconnect ECM harness connector.
- 2Check harness continuity between ECM terminal 73 and throttle position sensor harness connector terminal 3. Refer to wiring diagram. Continuity should exist.
- 3Also check harness for short to ground and short to power.
- 4OK or NG: - OK → GO TO 6. - NG → Repair open circuit or short to ground or short to power in harness or connectors.
Step 6 — CHECK THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR
- 1Refer to "Component Inspection", EC-7095.
- 2OK or NG: - OK → GO TO 7. - NG → Replace throttle position sensor.
Step 7 — CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
- 1Perform "TROUBLE DIAGNOSIS FOR INTERMITTENT INCIDENT", EC-7070.
- 2→ INSPECTION END.
