    Assemble the tensioner by rotating and pushing the ratchet up the spiral until it stops. The tensioner is now pre-set. Chain lash will automatically set the tensioner when the engine is started. Install the tensioner.
    Check no problems occur when engine is rotated.
    Make sure that No. 1 piston is set at T.D.C. on its compression stroke.

    Apply liquid gasket to thermostat housing.
    Ensure mating surfaces are clean and free from dirt, grease and traces of old liquid gasket.
    Bead width 2.0 - 3.0 mm (0.079 - 0.118 in).

    Install thermostat housing.

    Apply liquid basket to cam sprocket cover as illustrated. Then install cam sprocket cover.
    Bead width 2.0 - 3.0 mm (0.079 - 0.118 in).

    Clean the rocker cover, ensure it is free from grease.
    Fit the gasket & cover within 5 minutes of applying the liquid gasket, as follows:
