Removal

Oil pan — Removal

  1. 1
    Remove engine under covers.
    Underside view of the engine bay with arrows pointing at the under-cover, transaxle jack mount points, center member, rear cover, and oil drain — supports removal steps 1–6.

    Set a suitable transmission jack under the transaxle.
  3. 3
    Remove center member.
  4. 4
    Remove rear cover.
  5. 5
    Drain engine oil.
  6. 6
    Remove oil pan bolts.
  7. 7
    Remove oil pan using tool as illustrated.
    1. 1)
      Insert Tool between oil pan and cylinder block.
      Do not drive seal cutter into front or rear oil seal retainer portion, or aluminum mating surfaces will be damaged.
      Do not insert screwdriver, or oil pan flange will be deformed.
      Hand using the special seal-cutter tool inserted between oil pan flange and cylinder block — illustrating step 7-1 (insert tool between oil pan and cylinder block).

      Slide Tool by tapping it with a hammer, and remove oil pan.

Installation

Oil pan — Installation

  1. 1
    Before installing oil pan, remove all traces of liquid gasket from mating surface using a scraper. Also remove traces of liquid gasket from mating surface of cylinder block.

    Be sure liquid gasket is 3.5 to 4.5 mm (0.138 to 0.177 in) wide. Use Genuine Liquid Gasket or equivalent.
