Timing chain removal (continued)
- 13Remove thermostat housing.
UEM046 - 14Remove chain tensioner.
UEM047 - 15Loosen idler sprocket bolt.
- 16Remove camshaft sprocket bolts.
- 17Remove camshaft sprockets.
- 18Remove camshaft brackets and camshafts. Loosen in numerical order.These parts should be reassembled in their original positions.Bolts should be loosened in two or three steps.
SEM114D - 19Remove idler sprocket bolt.
- 20Remove cylinder head with manifolds. Loosen in numerical order.Head warpage or cracking could result from removing bolts in incorrect order.Cylinder head bolts should be loosened in two or three steps.
SEM115D - 21Remove idler sprocket and shaft.
- 22Remove upper timing chain.
- 23Remove oil pan. Refer to "Removal" in "OIL PAN".
- 24Remove oil strainer.
- 25Remove crankshaft pulley.
- 26Support engine with a suitable jack.
NEM048 - 27Remove engine front mounting bracket.
