    Place Tool KV109B0100 around camshaft as shown in figure.
    Be careful not to damage cam surface with Tool KV109B0100.
    Cylinder head with rocker cover removed; SST KV109B0100 valve-clearance adjustment tool fitted around the camshaft, positioned for engagement with a valve lifter — illustrates Adjusting step 2.

    Rotate lever so that valve lifter is pushed down.
    Hand rotating the KV109B0100 lever clockwise/downward so the integral claw pushes the valve lifter down, exposing the shim — illustrates Adjusting step 3.

    Remove adjusting shim using a small screwdriver and a magnetic finger.
    Hand using a small screwdriver and a magnetic finger probe to pry the adjusting shim out of the valve lifter pocket while the lifter is held down — illustrates Adjusting step 4.

    Determine replacement adjusting shim size using following formula.
    Using a micrometer determine thickness of removed shim.
    Calculate thickness of new adjusting shim so valve clearance comes within specified values.
    R = Thickness of removed shim
    N = Thickness of new shim
    M = Measured valve clearance
    Intake: N = R + [M − 0.15 mm (0.006 in)]
    Exhaust: N = R + [M − 0.30 mm (0.012 in)]
    Shims are available in 59 sizes from 3.20 mm (0.126 in) to 4.90 mm (0.193 in).
    Select new shim with thickness as close as possible to calculated value.
    Hand using a micrometer on a removed shim to determine its thickness — illustrates the 'using a micrometer determine thickness of removed shim' bullet (step 5).

    Install new shim using a suitable tool.
    Install with the surface on which the thickness is stamped facing down.
    Hand using magnetic-finger / tweezers to drop a new adjusting shim into the valve-lifter pocket; SST KV109B0100 still engaged holding the lifter down — illustrates Adjusting step 6.
