TIMING BELT — Installation (Cont'd) — Verification (Supplement-V)

EM-5016prose procedure

Three distinct tension windows across the procedure: pretension 98/75 (EM-5014), initial 54/44 (EM-5015), verified 51–57 / 41–47 (this page). Verified window is the final acceptance criterion.

Installation (Cont'd)

Timing belt — Installation (continued) — Verification

  1. 6
Tighten sprocket bolts to the specified torque while holding the sprockets from rotating with SST KV109B0070.
Front of engine with arrows pointing at the camshaft and injection-pump sprocket bolts being torqued while the pulley-holding SST KV109B0070 keeps them stationary — illustrates step 6.
    NEM261
  2. 7
Remove all locking pins. Turn crankshaft two revolutions and check timing and belt tension using SST KV109B0030 and the 3 locking pins. Belt tension should be between: 51 - 57 SEEM units for a new belt; 41 - 47 SEEM units for used belt.
  3. 8
    Install timing belt covers.
Front of engine showing the timing-belt covers being re-installed with arrows at the four cover-fixing bolts — illustrates step 8.
    NEM253
Verified belt tension — new beltAfter 2 crank revolutions, all locking pins re-fitted
51 - 57SEEM units
Verified belt tension — used beltAfter 2 crank revolutions, all locking pins re-fitted
41 - 47SEEM units
