Front oil seal (cont'd)

    Apply engine oil to new oil seal and install using suitable tool.
    Support cover when installing seal.
    Front cover supported on bench while a drift is used to install the new front crankshaft oil seal.

REAR OIL SEAL

Rear oil seal replacement

    Remove flywheel.
  2. 2
    Remove rear oil seal retainer.
  3. 3
    Remove traces of liquid gasket using scraper.
    Take care not to damage retainer.
    Hand using a scraper to remove old liquid gasket from the rear oil seal retainer mating face on the rear of the cylinder block. Label: Scraper.

    Remove seal from rear oil seal retainer.
    Pry tool removing the rear crankshaft oil seal from the rear oil seal retainer.

    Apply engine oil to new oil seal and install it using a suitable tool.
    Drift installing the new rear oil seal into the retainer.

    Apply liquid gasket to rear oil seal retainer.
    Rear oil seal retainer with continuous bead of liquid gasket applied around perimeter. Labels: 'Apply liquid gasket.', 'Rear oil seal retainer'.
