EM-5017prose procedure

Step numbering in the source skips '4)' inside the sub-step list (jumps 1), 2), 3), 5), 6), 7)) — preserved verbatim. The valve-oil-seal puller code is printed here as KV10107902 (final digit '2') whereas EM-5003 lists KV10107900 — flagged as a likely source typo without correcting it.

VALVE OIL SEAL

Valve oil seal replacement

  1. 1
Remove timing belt and rocker cover.
  2. 2
Remove camshaft sprocket and camshaft hub.
  3. 3
Remove camshaft brackets by loosening bracket nuts from center to outside in two or three stages.
  4. 4
Remove camshaft oil seal and camshaft.
  5. 5
Remove valve lifters and mark order No. on each lifter.
  6. 6
Replace valve oil seal according to the following procedure.
When replacing valve oil seal, set the corresponding piston at TDC. Failure to do so causes the valve to drop into the cylinder.
    1. 1)
Set No. 1 cylinder at TDC.
    2. 2)
Remove valve springs and valve oil seals for No. 1 and No. 4 cylinders. Valve spring seats should not be removed.
Hand using the valve spring compressor SST KV10109210 (lever-style compressor) with adapter KV10109220 (tubular thimble over the valve stem) to compress a valve spring on the cylinder head — illustrates valve-oil-seal step 6-2.

      NEM263
    4. 5)
Set No. 2 cylinder at TDC.
    5. 6)
