TIMING BELT — Installation (Cont'd) and Tensioning (Supplement-V)
EM-5015prose procedureTwo distinct tension targets exist: pretension (EM-5014: 98/75) and final tension after two crank revolutions (EM-5015: 54/44). Lower final value is expected because seating relaxes the belt.
Installation (Cont'd)
Timing belt — Installation (continued)
- 3Remove one bolt from each sprocket to make certain that they are not at the end of their slots.
NEM259 - 4Re-install the sprocket bolts and tighten the bolts to the specified torque while holding the sprockets from rotating with SST KV109B0070.
- 5Remove all locking pins and rotate crankshaft two revolutions clockwise.
Tensioning the timing belt
- 1Re-install flywheel locking pin SST KV109B0112.
NEM254 - 2Re-install camshaft and injection pump locking pins SST KV109B0111 and KV109B0110.
NEM255 - 3Loosen the camshaft and injection pump sprocket bolts slightly and loosen tensioner nut.
NEM260 - 4Install SST KV109B0030 on the edge of the belt. Take care not to obstruct any other component.
NEM258 - 5Rotate tensioner counter-clockwise to obtain a reading of: 54 SEEM units for a new belt; 44 SEEM units for a used belt. Tighten tensioner nut to the specified torque. Remove SST KV109B0030.
