OIL SEAL REPLACEMENT — Rear Oil Seal

REAR OIL SEAL

    Remove flywheel.
  2. 2
    Remove rear oil seal retainer.
  3. 3
    Remove traces of liquid gasket using scraper.
    Support cover when installing seal.
    Hand using a scraper on the rear oil seal retainer to remove traces of old liquid gasket. Callout: 'Scraper'.

    Remove seal from rear oil seal retainer.
    Hand using a screwdriver or pry tool to remove the old oil seal from the rear oil seal retainer that is sitting on a workbench.

    Apply engine oil to new oil seal and install it using a suitable tool.
    Hand using a hammer and a suitable drift / installer tool to drive a new oil seal into the rear oil seal retainer.

    Apply liquid gasket to rear oil seal retainer.
    Rear oil seal retainer shown from inside with a liquid gasket bead applied around the mating surface. Callouts: 'Apply liquid gasket' and 'Rear oil seal retainer'.

    Apply thread sealant to the bolt indicated in the figure.
