DTC P1705 THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR — Diagnostic Procedure

AT-7078flowchartUnverified

The small probe diagram NAT334 labels the wire at TCM terminal 35 as 'P/L', which conflicts with the wiring diagram (AT-7077) and TCM Reference Value table (AT-7075), both of which call it 'R/L'. Likely a print artifact — flagged but not silently corrected.

Diagnostic Procedure

1
1. CHECK DTC WITH ECM — Perform diagnostic test mode II (self-diagnostic results) for engine control. Refer to EC section ["Malfunction Indicator (MI)", "ON BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DESCRIPTION"].
OK (Without CONSULT-II)
3. CHECK INPUT SIGNAL (Without CONSULT-II) — Turn ignition switch to "ON" (do not start engine). Check voltage between TCM terminals 35 and ground while accelerator pedal is depressed slowly. Voltage — Fully-closed throttle valve: Approximately 3.5V. Fully-open throttle valve: Approximately 9.5V. (Voltage rises gradually in response to throttle position.)
NG
Check throttle position sensor circuit for engine control. Refer to EC section ("DTC P1705 THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR").
OK (With CONSULT-II)
2
2. CHECK INPUT SIGNAL (With CONSULT-II) — Turn ignition switch to "ON" (do not start engine). Select "TCM INPUT SIGNALS" in "DATA MONITOR" mode for "CVT" with CONSULT-II. Read out the value of "THRTL POS SEN". Voltage — Fully-closed throttle: Approximately 3.5V. Fully-open throttle: Approximately 9.5V.
NG
Check harness for short or open between ECM and TCM regarding throttle position sensor circuit. (Main harness)
OK
3
GO TO 4 — proceed to next diagnostic step on AT-7079.
