OPERATION - Engine Speed Input Signal (Pitot Pressure) / Shift Lock Safety Mechanism / Oil Cooler
AT-22prose procedure3. Engine speed input signal (pitot pressure).
NOTE
A pitot tube is inserted into a chamber attached to the primary pulley, and a hydraulic pressure is detected and interpreted by the control valve assembly as engine speed.
4. Shift lock safety mechanism
NOTE
If all four wheels lock up under braking, pitot pressure is not produced and the pulley (speed) ratio will change. The mechanism "holds" the pulley ratio as it was when lock-up occurred. This prevents the engine overreving.
5. Oil cooler.
NOTE
An oil cooler is located as part of the vehicle radiator. Oil is fed to the cooler under pressure, where its temperature is reduced by the radiator oil flow.
