OPERATION - Hydraulic System / Oil Pump
AT-16flowchartFlowchart edges are reconstructed from the schematic - actual valve interconnects on the original use multi-line piping; arrows represent dominant flow direction.
HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
NOTE
The hydraulic system basically consists of:
- 1Oil pump driven by the engine.
- 2Hydraulic control valve to control oil pressure and speed change.
- 3Input signals relating to accelerator position, pulley ratio and engine speed.
- 4Shift lock safety mechanism.
- 5Oil cooler.
1. Oil pump.
NOTE
The oil pump is driven by the engine via a shaft passing through the primary pulley. The pump is of the external gear type. As well as providing line pressure to operate the control valve, the pump also lubricates the drive belt by spraying oil (at high pressure) directly on to it.
The pulley ratio sensor is also lubricated in the same manner.
