OPERATION - Performance Characteristics / Selector Lever Function
AT-15prose procedurePERFORMANCE CHARACTERISTICS
Speed change characteristic.
NOTE
The speed change characteristic of the [N-CVT] is not linear (like that of a manual transmission vehicle, but can be expressed as the region bounded by the maximum and minimum pulley ratios.
In the graph, the MAX line shows the relationship between engine speed and vehicle speed at full acceleration: the minimum line shows the same relationship when accelerating slowly.
Selector lever function.
- 1"D" Position. Normal driving mode, from starting off to maximum speed. Speed change occurs between 1600 and 4000 rev/min depending upon gradual or fast acceleration. When cruising speed is reached and pressure on the accelerator pedal is reduced (transmission enters overdrive), the pulley ratio is at maximum. If the pedal is pressed while cruising - ie to accelerate - the pulley ratio shifts to minimum and vehicle speed rises quickly.
UAT022 - 2"Ds" Position. In the "Ds" mode, the speed (ratio) range is limited to the higher zone of the speed change region. "Ds" also provides an engine braking effect.
- 3"R" Position. In the reverse mode, the pulleys are locked in "low", and the speed (ratio) change does not occur.
- 4"P" Position. In the park position, the output (secondary) pulley is locked mechanically.
- 5"N" Position. In this position, the forward and reverse changeover is locked in a neutral state.
