Assembly steps 17-24

  1. 17
    Install the reverse idle gear.
    Ensure the pin is positioned correctly in the transmission case.

    Assemble the synchroniser using clean ATF.
    Note the two wire springs are different thicknesses. Fit the thinner spring facing the transmission casing, and the thicker one facing the clutch housing. Align the spring gaps.

    Install the sleeve and hub assembly, shift fork and reverse gear.

    Fit the counter gear (small end facing the drive belt) to the shaft as shown.

    Install the counter gear assembly.
    Lift the synchroniser sleeve assembly up slightly for access. Lower the counter gear assembly into position. Lower the synchroniser. Ensure the counter shaft pin is correctly located in the transmission casing groove.

    Fit the circlip.

    Install the needle bearing.
