AT-7018prose procedure

Table label 'Cluth switching' is a typo in the original document for 'Clutch switching'.

Control Mechanism (Cont'd)

FORWARD CLUTCH PRESSURE CONTROL, REVERSE BRAKE PRESSURE CONTROL

Sets engagement/release of the forward clutch and reverse brake based on PNP switch signal, and electronically controls the clutch pressure solenoid valve in TCM to control the forward clutch and reverse brake.

When Activated

When the slip control valve controlled by the Torque converter clutch solenoid valve is set to "clutch control" in "D", "L", or "R" position, the clutch pressure regulated by the torque converter clutch solenoid valve is sent to the circuit of forward clutch or reverse brake. The forward clutch is engaged in "D" or "L" position, and the reverse brake in "R" position.
The torque converter clutch solenoid valve are duty-controlled based on engine and throttle position to regulate the slip control valve.
The operation pressure of forward clutch or reverse brake is controlled by the slip control valve to regulate the force applied to the forward clutch or reverse brake.
When the forward clutch or reverse brake is engaged, the operation pressure is increased steadily, leading to smooth engagement.

When Not Activated

In "N" or "P" position, the slip control valve is set to "clutch release". Because the manual valve connected directly to the shift lever opens the circuits of forward clutch and reverse brake, the forward clutch and reverse brake are released.
