Differential Side Bearing Preload
NOTE
If any of the following parts are replaced, adjust differential side bearing preload.
NOTE
Differential case; Differential side bearing; Clutch housing; Transmission case.
Differential side bearing preload adjustment
- 1Remove differential side bearing outer race (transmission case side) and shim.
SMT645 - 2Reinstall differential side bearing outer race without shim.
SMT646 - 3Install final drive assembly on clutch housing.
- 4Install transmission case on clutch housing.Tighten transmission case fixing bolts to the specified torque.
- 5Set dial indicator on front end of differential case.
SMT454 - 6Insert Tool all the way into differential side gear.
- 7Move Tool up and down and measure dial indicator deflection.
- 8Select shim with S.D.S. table as a guide.
- 9Install selected shim and differential side bearing outer race.
- 10Check differential side bearing turning torque.Tighten transmission case fixing bolts to the specified torque.a. Install final drive assembly on clutch housing.b. Install transmission case on clutch housing.
