Page continues the disassembly procedure from MT-38. Step 4c completes the RS5F30A path (steps 4a/4b on MT-38); the RS5F31V variant is a parallel a/b/c sequence on this page. Figure SMT721 association is to the same RS5F31V step a as SMT720; both show the assembly being withdrawn.

RS5F30A — Remove gear components (continued)

    Remove reverse idler gear and final drive assembly.

RS5F31V — Remove gear components

    Remove mainshaft and final drive assembly.
    Always withdraw mainshaft straight out. Failure to do so can damage resin oil channel on clutch housing side.

    Remove bearing retainer securing bolts.

    Remove input shaft together bearing retainer and reverse idler gear by tapping lightly on it.
    Do not draw out reverse idler shaft from clutch housing because these fittings will be loose.
    When removing input shaft, be careful not to scratch oil seal lip with shaft spline.
    Soft-hammer tap on the input shaft / bearing retainer / reverse idler gear assembly to walk them out of the clutch housing together.
