Transaxle assembly

  1. 1
    Apply sealant to welch plug and install it on clutch housing.
    Clutch-housing interior with the welch plug being installed; callout 'Welch plug'.

    Install striking lever and change shift lever.
    Installation of striking lever and change shift lever into the clutch housing; star markers and arrow indicate engagement points.

    Install select shifter and retaining pin.
    Select shifter installed inside the clutch housing; arrow shows retaining pin being driven in.

    Attach shift fork assembly to mainshaft.
    Shift fork assembly being attached to the mainshaft; gears visible on the shaft.

  5. 5
    Determine thickness of shims to be used when clutch housing, transmission case, mainshaft, differential case or taper roller bearing is replaced. Refer to "Adjustment".
  6. 6
    Wrap a tape around splines of input shaft to avoid damaging oil seal.
    Hands wrapping cellophane tape around the splines of the input shaft to avoid damaging the oil seal during installation.
