Supplement-V DISASSEMBLY for the MA5L. Step 4 explicitly notes both production and service mainshaft-nut variants.

MA5L disassembly

    Before removing transaxle case, remove reverse switch, breather, speedometer sensor and plugs shown left.

    Remove transaxle cover.
    Transaxle cover lifted off the case, exposing the gear stack.

    Drift the retaining pin out of the 5th shift fork.
    Hands using a hammer and pin punch to drift the retaining pin out of the 5th shift fork.

    Engage reverse gear and 5th gear (by pressing the 5th shift fork) to lock the mainshaft. Remove mainshaft nut using KV329I0060 or a normal socket (two versions of nuts are available). Mark the position of the synchroniser hub and sleeve. Carefully remove the synchroniser sleeve with 5th shift fork.
    CAUTION: Cover the sleeve with a cloth to retrieve the balls, springs and fingers.
    Two mainshaft-nut versions exist: production nut (one-piece) and service nut with stop washer.
    Special tool KV329I0060 (socket) being used to remove the mainshaft nut. Inset image shows the two nut versions: production nut (one-piece) vs. service nut with stop washer.

    Remove 5th main gear and synchronizer hub using a suitable puller.
    Suitable puller mounted on the 5th main gear and synchronizer hub to pull them off the mainshaft.
