Input Shaft and Gears

DISASSEMBLY

Input shaft disassembly

  1. 1
    Before disassembly, check 5th input gear end play.
    If not within specification, disassemble and check contact surface of gear, shaft and hub. Then check clearance of snap ring groove — Refer to "Assembly".
    Feeler gauge being inserted between 5th input gear and adjacent face to measure 5th input gear end play; needle bearing and gear are called out.

    Remove snap ring and 5th stopper.

    Remove 5th synchronizer, 5th input gear and 5th gear needle bearing.
    Special tool ST30021000 (puller/press) being used on the input shaft to remove the 5th synchronizer hub assembly along with 5th input gear and 5th gear needle bearing.

    Remove snap ring of input shaft front bearing and input gear spacer.
    Snap-ring pliers removing the snap ring above the input shaft front bearing on the input shaft; snap ring and input shaft front bearing are called out.

    Pull out input shaft front bearing.
    Two-jaw bearing puller being used to pull the input shaft front bearing off the shaft.

    Remove bearing retainer.
