Mainshaft & Differential Side Bearing Preload

Mainshaft & differential side bearing preload procedure

  1. 1
    Remove mainshaft front and rear bearing outer race, shim(s) and oil channel.
    Puller mounted on the clutch housing being used to remove the mainshaft front and rear bearing outer race; shim(s) and oil channel come out with the race.

    Install mainshaft rear bearing outer race without shim.
  3. 3
    Remove differential side bearing outer race (transmission case side) and shim(s).
    Pin punch used to drive out the differential side bearing outer race (transmission case side) and shim(s); star markers indicate strike points.

    Place final drive assembly on clutch housing.
  5. 5
    Install bearing outer races to mainshaft adjuster (A) and differential side bearing adjuster (A).

    Set up special service tools and mainshaft assembly. Pay attention to cutout portion of mainshaft adjuster (B).
