Mainshaft & Differential Side Bearing Preload
NOTE
Transaxle model: RS5F41A.
IMPORTANT
Whenever clutch housing, transmission case, mainshaft, differential case or taper roller bearing is replaced, it is necessary to select a suitable amount of shims.
Mainshaft & differential side bearing preload procedure
- 1Remove mainshaft front and rear bearing outer race, shim(s) and oil channel.
SMT906 - 2Install mainshaft rear bearing outer race without shim.
- 3Remove differential side bearing outer race (transmission case side) and shim(s).
SMT907 - 4Place final drive assembly on clutch housing.
- 5Install bearing outer races to mainshaft adjuster (A) and differential side bearing adjuster (A).
SMT935 - 6Set up special service tools and mainshaft assembly. Pay attention to cutout portion of mainshaft adjuster (B).
