REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION (MA5L)

Supplement-V REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION for the MA5L transaxle. Bolt-position diagram (NMT128) identifies three positions; tightening torques given in N·m / kg-m / ft-lb.

Removal

Transaxle removal

    Remove battery and battery tray.

    Remove air cleaner.
  3. 3
    Disconnect clutch control cable from transaxle.
  4. 4
    Disconnect speedometer connector from transaxle.
  5. 5
    Disconnect reverse switch connector and ground harness.
  6. 6
    Remove starter motor from transaxle. Refer to section EL.
  7. 7
    Remove shift linkages from transaxle.

    Drain gear oil from transaxle.

    Remove exhaust front tube.
  10. 10
    Draw out drive shafts from transaxle — Refer to section FA.

    Support engine by placing a jack under oil pan.

    Remove rear and LH mounts.
  13. 13
    Raise jack for access to lower housing bolts. Remove bolts. Lower jack.

    Remove bolts securing transaxle.
  15. 15
    Lower transaxle while supporting it with a jack.

Installation
