Replacing Oil Seal

DIFFERENTIAL OIL SEAL

Differential oil seal replacement

    Drain gear oil from transaxle.
  2. 2
    Remove drive shafts — Refer to section FA.
  3. 3
    Remove differential oil seal.

    Install differential oil seal.
    Apply multi-purpose grease to seal lip of oil seal before installing.
    Installation of the differential oil seal using a drift/installer (labelled 'Drift') being driven into the seal bore of the transaxle housing.

    Install drive shafts — Refer to section FA.

STRIKING ROD OIL SEAL

Striking rod oil seal replacement

  1. 1
    Remove transaxle control rod from yoke.
  2. 2
    Remove retaining pin of yoke.
    Be careful not to damage boot.
  3. 3
    Remove striking rod oil seal.
    Striking-rod oil seal removal: special tool KV32101000 (a slide-hammer / seal puller) being used by hand to extract the striking rod oil seal from the transaxle.

    Install striking rod oil seal.
    Apply multi-purpose grease to seal lip of oil seal before installing.
    Installation of the striking rod oil seal using a drift (labelled 'Drift'), driven into the seal bore on the transaxle case.
