SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM (SRS) — Removal and Installation — Diagnosis Sensor Unit and Satellite Sensor
BF-6019prose procedure3-door model uses M8 nuts; 5-door model uses M8 bolts for satellite sensor mounting.
Removal and Installation — Diagnosis Sensor Unit and Satellite Sensor
CAUTION
Before servicing SRS, turn the ignition switch off, disconnect both battery cables and wait at least 3 minutes.
Do not use old bolts and nuts coated with bonding agent after removal; replace with new ones.
Check diagnosis sensor unit and satellite sensor for proper installation.
Check diagnosis sensor unit and satellite sensor to ensure they are free of deformities, dents, cracks or rust. If they show any visible signs of damage, replace them with new ones.
Check diagnosis sensor unit brackets to ensure they are free of deformities or rust.
After replacement of diagnosis sensor unit and satellite sensor, check SRS function and perform self-diagnosis for SRS. Refer to "Self-diagnosis" for details.
Do not attempt to disassemble diagnosis sensor unit and satellite sensor.
Replace diagnosis sensor unit and satellite sensor if it has been dropped or sustained an impact.
REMOVAL OF DIAGNOSIS SENSOR UNIT
Remove diagnosis sensor unit
- 1Disconnect driver and passenger air bag module connectors. Also, disconnect seat belt pre-tensioner connectors.
NBF352 - 2Remove instrument stay cover. Refer to "INSTRUMENT PANEL" for details, BF-5004.
- 3Disconnect diagnosis sensor unit connector.
- 4Remove ground bolt and also remove special bolts using the TAMPER RESISTANT TORX (Size T50), from diagnosis sensor unit. Then remove the diagnosis sensor unit.To install, reverse the removal procedure sequence.
CAUTION
Do not use old special bolts and ground bolt coated with bonding agent; replace with new coated special bolts and ground bolt.
REMOVAL OF SATELLITE SENSOR
Remove satellite sensor
- 1Remove seat belt pre-tensioner retractor. Refer to "Front Seat Belt" for details. (BF-5032)
NBF353 - 2Disconnect satellite sensor connector.
- 3Remove ground bolt and M8 nuts (3 door model) or M8 bolts (5-door model) from satellite sensor. Then remove the satellite sensor.To install, reverse the removal procedure sequence.
CAUTION
Do not use old nuts coated with bonding agent after removal; replace with new coated nuts.
