Side guard molding consists of four separate strips bonded with double-faced adhesive tape — heat 30-40°C before peeling. Back door weatherstrip alignment uses Center marking (top) + Joint portion (bottom).

(9) Side guard molding

Side guard molding — Removal

  1. 1
    Heat molding portion to 30 to 40°C (86 to 104°F) with a heat gun.
    Heat-gun detail for callout 9 — directing heat onto a body-molding strip.

    Raise end of molding and, while cutting off bonding agent, detach molding.

Side guard molding — Installation

  1. 1
    Remove all traces of bonding agent from body panel. Then clean contact face of body.
  2. 2
    Heat body panel and molding to 30 to 40°C (86 to 104°F) with a heat gun. Then install molding.
Working temperature
30 - 40°C

(10) Back door window molding

Back door window molding — Removal / Installation

  1. 1
    Removal: Remove molding by cutting around its perimeter.
    Callout 10 — Back door window molding: section view across Back door window molding + Back door glass + Back door panel.
