Spiral cable centring: clockwise to stop, then back off ~2.5 turns to align the marks. Use NEW special bolts on reassembly.

Installation — Air Bag Module and Spiral Cable

    Connect spiral cable connector and tighten with screws. Install steering column covers.
  2. 2
    Alignment of spiral cable with neutral position. Align spiral cable with neutral position as follows: Turn spiral cable clockwise until resistance is felt. Then, back spiral cable off approximately 2.5 turns until the alignment marks meet as shown.

    Fit steering wheel, align to guide pins.
  4. 4
    Fit and tighten steering wheel center nut to correct torque.
  5. 5
    Position air bag module and tighten with new special bolts.

    Connect air bag module connector and Diagnosis sensor unit connector.
  7. 7
    Install side and lower lids.
  8. 8
    Conduct self-diagnosis to ensure entire SRS functions correctly. (Use warning lamp check).
