Repair Procedure 1 — Symptom: Warning lamp flashes

Is air bag module deployed?
Yes
Replace air bag module and steering wheel assembly (including diagnosis sensor unit).
No

Before servicing the SRS, turn ignition switch "OFF", disconnect battery ground cable and wait for at least 10 minutes.

Remove air bag module.

A — CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY OF SPIRAL CABLE HARNESSES. Disconnect spiral cable steering connector. Turn ignition switch "ON". Measure voltage between spiral cable steering connector terminals (1) and (7). Voltage between (1)-(7) should be Battery voltage.

B — 1) Remove spiral cable. 2) Disconnect spiral cable harness connector. 3) Check continuity: (1)-(1) Yes, (7)-(4) Yes.

Replace air bag harness.

Replace spiral cable.

Check the power supply of spiral cable again.

1) Replace steering wheel assembly (including diagnosis sensor unit). 2) Connect diagnosis sensor unit connectors. 3) Install air bag module. 4) Check air bag warning lamp for normal operation. Turn ignition switch "ON", then confirm that air bag warning lamp illuminates for about 7 seconds and then goes off.

1) Turn ignition switch "OFF", disconnect battery ground cable and wait for at least 10 minutes. 2) Replace air bag module. 3) Check air bag warning lamp again.
