Relay identification by colour: BLACK = motor relay, WHITE = solenoid valve relay — printed on the relay body inside the actuator relay cover.

ELECTRONIC CONTROL UNIT

Removal — ACTUATOR

    Disconnect battery cable.
  2. 2
    Remove air cleaner.
  3. 3
    Drain brake fluid. Refer to "Changing Brake Fluid" in "CHECK AND ADJUSTMENT".
  4. 4
    Apply different colored paint to each pipe connector and actuator to prevent incorrect connection.
  5. 5
    Disconnect harness, brake pipes and remove fixing nuts and actuator ground cable.
    ABS actuator mounting in engine bay with torque callouts: actuator securing nuts 18-20 N·m (1.8-2.0 kg·m, 13-14 ft·lb); brake-tube nuts 15-18 N·m (1.5-1.8 kg·m, 11-13 ft·lb).

Installation — ACTUATOR

  1. 1
    Tighten actuator ground cable.
  2. 2
    Connect brake pipes temporarily.
  3. 3
    Tighten fixing nuts.
  4. 4
    Tighten brake pipes.
  5. 5
    Refit air cleaner.
  6. 6
    Connect harness and battery cable.

Removal and Installation — ACTUATOR RELAYS

  1. 1
    Disconnect battery cable.
  2. 2
    Remove air cleaner.
  3. 3
    Remove actuator relay cover.
    Actuator relay cover location: in the engine bay near the air cleaner, on top of the actuator. Arrows point at the relay cover.

    Remove connector. Then remove relays.
Actuator securing nut
18 - 20N·m (1.8 - 2.0 kg·m, 13 - 14 ft·lb)
Brake-tube nut
15 - 18N·m (1.5 - 1.8 kg·m, 11 - 13 ft·lb)
