ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM — System Description (Cont'd) — ACTUATOR
BR-36prose procedureK11 ABS hydraulic architecture is X-split (FR+RL share one pump-circuit, FL+RR share the other) and the rear pressures pass through the load-sensing valve downstream of the actuator. Source prints 'Font left wheel cylinder' (typo for 'Front'). Captured verbatim in OCR; clean label used in callouts.
System Description (Cont'd)
ACTUATOR
NOTE
The actuator consists of 4 pairs of solenoid valves (8 in total), two reservoirs, two dampers, two pumps and a motor. Each pump serves 2 pairs of solenoid valves. Each pair of solenoid valves comprises one inlet and one outlet. Therefore there are 3 conditions for a pair of solenoid valves; open/close, close/close, close/open when in an ABS situation (Normal conditions are open/close).
The actuator controls pressure to each wheel cylinder (calipers), either decreasing, increasing, or holding, depending upon the situation.
The damper stores fluid from the pump temporarily, and an orifice next to the damper allows fluid to return smoothly to the master cylinder.
