PARKING BRAKE CONTROL — Inspection / Adjustment
BR-32prose procedureDisc-brake variant has an extra release check — the caliper-side lever must return to its stopper bolt when the hand-brake is fully released; if it doesn't the cable is too tight.
Inspection
- 1Check control lever for wear or other damage. Replace if necessary.
- 2Check wires for discontinuity or deterioration. Replace if necessary.
- 3Check warning lamp and switch. Replace if necessary.
- 4Check components at each connection point and, if deformed or damaged, replace.
Adjustment
NOTE
After adjustment, check the following:
• There is no drag when control lever is being released.
• Parking brake lever returns to stopper bolt when control lever for rear disc brake models is released.
- 1Loosen parking brake cable.
- 2Depress brake pedal fully more than 5 times.
- 3Adjust control lever by turning adjusting nut on front cable.
UBR065 - 4Pull control lever with specified amount of force. Check lever stroke and ensure smooth operation.
- Specified pull-force: 196 N (20 kg, 44 lb).
- Number of notches: 6 - 8.
UBR066 - 5Bend parking brake warning lamp switchplate so that brake warning lamp comes on before first notch on ratchet, and goes out when lever is fully released.
