REAR DISC BRAKE — Inspection — Caliper / Inspection — Rotor
BR-24prose procedureRear rotor is thinner than front: 7 mm standard / 6 mm minimum vs front 12 mm / 10 mm.
Inspection — Caliper
CAUTION
Use brake fluid to clean cylinder. Never use mineral oil.
CYLINDER BODY
NOTE
• Check inside surface of cylinder for scoring, corrosion, wear, damage or presence of foreign materials. If any of the above conditions are observed, replace cylinder body.
• Minor damage from rust or foreign materials may be eliminated by polishing surface with a fine emery paper. Replace cylinder body if necessary.
TORQUE MEMBER
NOTE
Check for wear, cracks or other damage. Replace if necessary.
PISTON
NOTE
Check piston for scoring, corrosion, wear, damage or presence of foreign materials. Replace if any of the above conditions are observed.
CAUTION
S:
Piston sliding surface is plated. Do not polish with emery paper even if rust or foreign matter is stuck to sliding surface.
PIN AND PIN BOOT
NOTE
Check for wear, cracks or other damage. Replace if any of the above conditions are observed.
Inspection — Rotor
CONTACT SURFACE
NOTE
Check rotor for roughness, cracks or chips.
RUNOUT
NOTE
Make sure that axial end play is within the specifications before measuring. Refer to section RA.
Then check runout with a dial indicator.
