FRONT DISC BRAKE — Inspection — Rotor (Cont'd) / Assembly / Installation

BR-20prose procedure

Hub-fix uses two M12 × 1.25 nuts (wheel-stud thread); thickness-variation spec is checked at minimum 8 positions per revolution.

Inspection — Rotor (Cont'd)

RUNOUT

  1. 1
Secure rotor to wheel hub with two nuts (M12 × 1.25).
Rotor runout check: rotor secured on hub by two nuts, dial indicator on magnetic stand resting on the rotor pad-contact surface.
    SBR936A
  2. 2
Check runout using a dial indicator.
Front rotor — maximum runout (total indicator reading at center of pad-contact surface)
0.07mm (0.0028 in)

THICKNESS

Standard rotor thickness
12mm (0.47 in)
Minimum rotor thickness (repair limit)
10mm (0.39 in)
Maximum thickness variation (≥8 positions)
0.02mm (0.0008 in)

Assembly

  1. 1
With dust seal fitted to piston, insert dust seal into groove on cylinder body and install piston.
Cross-section detail of piston seal direction: dust seal at the top of the cylinder, piston seal in the groove inside the cylinder body with its lip pointing toward the closed end (cylinder bore) — pay attention to seal orientation on assembly.
    SBR574
  2. 2
    Properly secure dust seal.

Installation

  1. 1
Install brake hose to caliper securely.
Brake-hose-to-caliper installation: two protrusions on the caliper engage the eye-end of the brake hose to fix its orientation.
    SBR082B
  2. 2
Install all parts and secure all bolts.
  3. 3
